Welcome! My name is Dan. I grow, harvest, preserve, and cook a lot of the food that I eat. Understanding where food comes from and becoming more skilled in the kitchen have helped me to lose over 80 pounds! I am also a fitness enthusiast, who loves taking long runs and bike rides and pushing myself in the gym. I hope that that what I share here inspires you to try growing a new plant, or try a new type of food, or give a workout a try.
Why I Started Gardening
There is nothing better than produce from your own garden. I first took gardening seriously in 2020, when we were all confined to our homes in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. In the next few years, I learned how to grow different plants from seed, and therefore try so many more amazing flavors. New plants in the garden unlocked new creativity in the kitchen.

I am a college student with a part-time job and a nightmarish commute. Anyone can start a garden, regardless of space, climate, work or school schedules, or knowledge of plants. Similarly, anyone can cook. I hope to inspire all to get growing and get in the kitchen.
